This weekend I decided to see Sunrise on the banks of Indrayani River at Alandi. Somewhere I read ‘The world is a book and those who don’t travel read only one page’. Post lockdown I have started cycling to explore different destinations near Pune. I wrote in my previous blog post – even if I have been to a place before I rediscover it during my cycle ride.
Started my ride at 5.30 am, winter mornings in Pune are pleasant, the temperature around 16dc, a little foggy, almost an empty road. Instead of taking a short route which is from Nashik Phata-Bhosari.-Alandi. I decided to enjoy the chill and took a little longer route from Kalewadi – Chinchwad Auto Cluster New Bridge – Tata Motor – Chikhali – Moshi – Alandi.

Sunrise at Alandi
After 1.10 hrs of paddling, I was at the banks of river Indrayani, Alandi. The Sun about to rise. The sky looked golden pink, calm waters, the beautiful Alandi ghats a perfect place for solitude. Blooming Sun on the horizon, golden petals stretching outwards, a flower of the sky, perfect to warm my day.

I have always loved sitting at the banks of river Indrayani and found this place very spiritual, calm and peaceful. Indrayani River follows through the town and waters are sacred for the devotees. I sat there for a while, closed my eyes, experienced a sense of calmness and inner peace.
Alandi
Devachi Alandi (God’s Place) is around 25km from Pune. The place is famous for Saint Dnyaneshwar’s Samadhi. He was a 13th century Marathi saint known for translating Srimad Bhagavad Gita in Marathi (Dnyaneshwari). Alandi is on the banks of river Indrayani. Known for its spiritual significances, thousands of devotees visit Alandi round the year to seek inner peace and express their devotion to Saint Dayaneshwar – an ardent devotee of God Panduranga Vitthal.

On the way back spotted a jet in the sky & the beautiful Sunrise.
